The Increase of Ruminant Population Based on Agricultural Waste Potential as Feed in Aceh Tamiang District

Livestock management includes the systems of maintenance, reproduction, and waste utilization. This study aims to examine potential feed sources for ruminants (cows buffaloes) efforts maintain continuous availability associated with ruminant livestock development strategies. The data used were primary secondary sources. Furthermore, variables observed include cattle buffalo population, agricultural production, digested dry matter (DDM), carrying capacity. results showed that Seruway sub-district had highest population 8,378 cows (4,933 ST) or 20.35% while Karang Baru 70 (34 40.23%. Meanwhile, Manyak Payed produced 5,029.32 DDM tons/year low district was Kuala Simpang city. Moreover, commodity produces is rice which scattered in all districts a total 19,370.65 tons/year. Although cassava plant not districts, it has producing 48,154.5 DDM. great opportunity an unutilized 2,718.23 capacity 2,384.41 (ST/year). Kejuruan Muda subdistrict insufficient buffalo, therefore, breeders this get from plantation other wastes. Based on results, Aceh Tamiang increase by utilizing forage waste.
